Day 5: Full-Day Petra Visit

Begin your day early to maximize your time exploring Petra, Jordan's most renowned archaeological site and one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Start at the Petra Visitor Center to obtain your entry ticket and a map of the site.

Enter through the Siq, a narrow, winding gorge approximately 1.2 kilometers long, flanked by towering sandstone cliffs. This natural passageway leads to the heart of Petra.

The Treasury (Al-Khazneh): Upon exiting the Siq, you'll encounter the Treasury, Petra's most iconic structure. Carved directly into the rose-red sandstone, this monument is believed to have been the mausoleum of Nabatean King Aretas IV.

The Street of Facades: Proceed to the Street of Facades, a row of monumental tombs carved into the rock face, showcasing intricate Nabatean architecture.

The Roman Theater: Visit the Roman Theater, an impressive structure with a capacity of around 3,000 spectators, reflecting the Roman influence on Petra.

Return to your accommodation in Petra to rest after a day of exploration.

Locations: Petra
Day 6: Petra Visit from Little Petra – Wadi Rum (120 km)

Depart from Petra and head towards Little Petra (Siq al-Barid), a smaller archaeological site approximately 10 kilometers north of Petra. Little Petra served as a suburb and caravanserai for Petra, featuring similar rock-cut architecture and frescoes. Take a brief photo stop to admire the intricate carvings and frescoes that adorn the structures.

The Monastery (Ad-Deir): For a more challenging hike, ascend approximately 800 rock-cut steps to reach the Monastery, a monumental building similar in design to the Treasury but larger in scale. The panoramic views from the top are breathtaking.

Continue your journey to Wadi Rum, also known as the "Valley of the Moon." This desert valley is framed by brown and red jagged mountain ranges, creating a breathtaking landscape. The area is rich in archaeological sites, with evidence of human presence dating back over 12,000 years. Scattered around are flint hand axes, while on the rocks at the feet of the mountains, the names of ancient travelers are scratched. In the center of the valley, an elaborately carved temple bears witness that Wadi Rum was once a holy place for the Nabateans.

Stay overnight in a traditional Bedouin camp within Wadi Rum, experiencing the unique culture and hospitality of the Bedouin people.
